Bar Lead

We are looking for a passionate, charismatic, and reliable Full-Time Tasting Room Bar Lead to join our tight-knit family and elevate our guest experience.

At J. Henry & Sons, we don’t just make award-winning, Wisconsin Straight bourbon—we craft an experience. Grown on our family farm since 1946 and aged in our historic barns, our bourbon is a labor of love. Our Tasting Room is the heart of our hospitality, where visitors from all over come to learn our story, taste our passion, and enjoy world-class cocktails.

The Role: What You’ll Do

As a Bourbon Steward, you are the face of our brand. You won't just be slinging drinks; you’ll be an educator, a master of hospitality, and a leader for parttime bar staff.

  • Craft Exceptional Cocktails: Prepare and serve a curated menu of classic and signature bourbon cocktails with precision, speed, and beautiful presentation.

  • Lead Tastings & Education: Guide guests through flights of our award-winning bourbons, sharing the history of the Henry family farm, our unique grains, and the aging process.

  • Deliver Top-Tier Hospitality: Welcome every guest with genuine warmth, ensuring a memorable, inclusive, and high-end experience.

  • Maintain Tasting Room Excellence: Keep the bar and seating areas pristine, manage inventory, restock product, and assist with opening/closing duties.

  • Support Events: Assist with special on-site events, VIP tours, and bottle release days as needed.

What We Are Looking For

  • The Bourbon Passion: A strong interest in or knowledge of bourbon, whiskey, and craft cocktails (we will fully train you on our specific history and profiles, but enthusiasm is a must!).

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of bartending experience, preferably in a craft cocktail bar, winery, or distillery tasting room.

  • The "Host" Personality: Outgoing, engaging, and excellent at storytelling. You love talking to people and can handle a busy crowd with grace and a smile.

  • Reliability & Flexibility: Must be available to work weekends, select holidays, and occasional evening events.

  • The Essentials: Must be 21+ and hold (or be willing to obtain) a valid Wisconsin Bartender’s License (Operator's License). Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (cases of bourbon) and stand for long periods.

Why You’ll Love Working For Us

  • A Unique Environment: Work on a beautiful, historic Wisconsin farm surrounded by people who love what they do.

  • Great Earning Potential: Enjoy a competitive base wage supplemented by a generous tip pool from a appreciative clientele.

  • Employee Perks: Generous discounts on J. Henry & Sons merchandise and bottles, plus ongoing industry education.

  • Growth: Be a part of a growing, highly respected regional brand with opportunities to expand your skills in the spirits industry.
